Dear All,

In a world where the problems to resolve seem ever greater and the past knocks on our doors, presenting the bill for the mistakes of what has gone before, our common Cittaslow project is our assurance, our hope, of doing better for ourselves, our children and grandchildren, and for the entire planet. The responsibility of being slow, the lessons we have learnt from the grand experience of Slow Food, make us different, more careful and less wasteful in the sphere of local government. Today, more than ever, is the time to start again from the roots of our territories, our soil, our work and the creativity of our men and women. In this spirit I want to send you, from our President, Gian Luca Marconi, Mayor of Castelnovo ne’ Monti, and from myself, our heartfelt best wishes for a new and better year in 2012.

Cari Sindaci delle Cittaslow, in un mondo dove i problemi da risolvere sembrano crescere ogni giorno di più e la storia pare presenti il conto di decenni di errori e di calcoli errati, il nostro comune progetto di Cittaslow rappresenta ovunque una certezza e una speranza di fare meglio, per noi tutti, per i nostri figli e nipoti, per il pianeta intero. La responsabilità di sentirsi “slow” che abbiamo appreso dalla grande esperienza di Slow Food, ci fa diversi, più attenti ed efficaci nelle nostre azioni di governo locale: oggi più che mai tocca ripartire dal territorio, dalla terra, dal lavoro e dalla creatività delle donne e degli uomini. E’ con questo spirito che vorrei farvi avere a nome del Presidente, Gian Luca Marconi, Sindaco di Castelnovo ne’ Monti, e mio, i più sentiti Auguri per un anno migliore
